Arizona Falls 6-1 to No. 3 USC

Los Angeles, CALIF. - The No. 30 Arizona women’s tennis team (10-7) fell Friday to No. 3 Southern California (11-2), 6-1 at Marks Stadium in Los Angeles.  Arizona lost the doubles point and won one of six singles matches.


In doubles play, senior Stephanie Balzert and sophomore Juliette Mavroleon fell to USC’s Luana Magnani and Lindsey Nelson, 8-4 in first position. On court two, freshman Danielle Steinberg and sophomore Camelia Todorova were defeated by Carine Vermeulen and Dianne Matias, 8-4 giving USC the doubles point. In third position, Kasia Jakowlew and Jessie Rochefort defeated Amanda Fink and Judy DeVera 8-6.


In singles play, the Wildcats were only able to claim one point in singles.  No. 54 Danielle Steinberg defeated No. 49 Luana Magnani 1-6, 7-6  at the two.


Arizona will play Saturday against UCLA at noon (PST).
