EL PASO, Texas - University of Arizona men's golfers Ricky Barnes and Chris Nallen are both tied for 15th place after the first day of play Monday at the Savane College All-America Golf Classic.

Both players carded one-over par totals of 143 after Monday's 36 holes and stand in a four-way tie for 15th place. Tournament leaders Brad Haven of Toledo and D.J. Trahan of Clemson posted 36-hole totals of 132 (-10).

Barnes, who won this event last year with a tournament-record 196 (-17) total, opened play with a 71 (E) and followed that up with a 72 (+1) in the afternoon round. Teammate Chris Nallen opened the day with a 69 (-2), his third round in the 60s this fall, and came back with a 74 (+3) in the second round.

The 54-hole Savane College All-America Golf Classic is an individuals-only event featuring 24 players that earned All-America honors in 2000-01. The event is being held at the El Paso Country Club, a par 71, 6,781-yard facility.
