? Won sectional qualifier by three strokes
TUCSON , Ariz. - University of Arizona womenˇ?s golfer Alison Walshe will play in the 2007 United States Womenˇ?s Amateur Championship after winning her sectional qualifier on July 5.
Walshe, a senior-to-be from Westford, Mass., won the sectional qualifier at Sapona Country Club in Lexington, N.C., with a three-under 68.? She was the only competitor in the 106-woman field to finish under par.? Walshe won the event by three strokes.
In her junior season in Tucson, Walshe posted a 73.35 stroke average and nine top-20 finishes, including three tournament victories.? She also carded the Wildcatsˇ? low round (67) and low tournament (207) of the season, and collected 12 rounds at or under par.? Walshe was also named as a first team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association and was a first team all-Pac-10 selection.
The 107th U.S. Womenˇ?s Amateur Championship will be held, Aug. 6-12, at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.? Crooked Stick is a par-72, 6,595-yard layout.
