Orvieto, Italy ?- After a three hour bus ride from Montecatini to Orvieto, the Arizona women’s basketball team cruised to an 87-41 win over S.R.L. Iemmeci Orvieto on Wednesday night.  The Wildcats improved to 4-0 on their tour of Italy and will play their final game in Rome on Thursday.


Arizona was led by sophomore Amina Njonkou’s 24 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman Rhaya Neabors finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, and junior Suzy Bofia tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds.


Junior Ashley Whisonant chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals, and sophomore Malia O’Neal had nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists.


The Wildcats took control of the game early on, racing out to a 14-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game, and led 28-6 at the end of the first quarter.


UA went on to take a 49-18 lead at halftime, and outscored Orvieto 17-9 in the third quarter.  Arizona led by 40 or more points for much of the second half behind aggressive defense and a quick transition offense.


Junior Shannon Hobson finished with nine points and three rebounds, and freshman Marie McGee posted eight points, six rebounds and five steals.
