Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini: “I thought it was great the way everyone was included offensively. It was not just one or two players. We were able to hit threes from multiple players. That is very difficult to defend. Polkey was much more mobile today than Thursday. Defensively, we did a good job controlling the boards. This is a big win for us. It is very big for our confidence.”

“We are getting better from the injuries. We are a more experienced team. We play with more confidence. Polk was determined to play a big game. Dee-Dee was a great leader on the floor today. USC has a good team.”

“We’ve got two games under out belt. We are going into Oregon State and Oregon with confidence. We’ve learned that we have to play hard. We are in control of our own destiny.”

“We are doing a better job of taking our time and distributing the ball well. When one three goes down, it turns into a confidence thing. It is very contagious.”

“This was a good game for us. I have tremendous respect for their coaching staff. I think they’ve done a good job this season.”

“I like the way this team has responded. We believe in them. They believe in themselves and they believe in each other.”

Junior center Shawntinice Polk: “Thursday was a really tough game for me and it was bugging me. My team really needed me to suck it up. It was tough Thursday, but we won, so I was able to get over it. I’ll take two points and a win over 20 points and a loss any day. We know that winning these games is important at this point in the season.”

“We have been injured, but we are a strong team. We fight through everything. Everything is coming together.”

“Our guards played awesome today. They were hitting everything and that really opens up the inside. I was excited.”

“As a team we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. The players off the bench and the starters are helping each other out. The teamwork is what has kept us going.”

Junior guard Natalie Jones: “It was really good to beat USC.  It was kind of embarrassing to go out there and lose to them. Coach told us we would need to come out wanting to win this game.  We wanted it more and battled from the start. A lot of people stepped up.”

“When I play, my elbow is always going to hurt. I try not to think about it and just try to step up.”

“We have been practicing our threes everyday. It was a great team effort. Tonight was a big step up.”

“Other teams have injuries, too. We just put it behind us. We have a hard schedule to play, so we just need to come to play and step it up.”

“A lot of it had to do with our intensity level. We play with a very fast-paced offense. When we were in Los Angeles, we let them set the tone and we played from behind. Tonight, we had a lot of feedback from the bench. We had leadership from all areas.”

“We have a tough road trip coming up. We need to focus on what is ahead. We really needed this sweep because we had a setback at California and Stanford. We need to keep this streak going.”

Senior guard Dee-Dee Wheeler: “It felt really good tonight. I had a good warm up despite my broken finger. The team needed it because we have a lot more games left.”

“In Los Angeles, I got into foul trouble early.  I was playing tough on defense, but I couldn’t play as aggressive.”

“We knew we wanted to come out and dominate from the jump.  They came off of a tough loss, and we wanted to take advantage of that.”

“Polkey was awesome. She is not 100 percent, but we’ll take whatever we can get from her.”

“We were really intense on defense. When we are tough on defense, it moves our offense. It opens us up for shots.”

“USC is a great team. We came out tonight focused on dominating the boards and defensive and offensive execution. We need to take that to Oregon and Oregon State.”
