Tucson, Ariz. ?- Arizona women’s basketball head coach Joan Bonvicini was named ?'Woman of the Year’ by the Men’s Anti-Violence Partnership Sunday night at the first annual Awards Gala held at the Westin La Paloma.

“I am very honored to receive this distinction from the Men’s Anti-Violence Partnership,” Bonvicini said.  “The big thing is that we need to continue the awareness and the support for the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault.  Women who are affected by this need a voice and a place where they know their voice counts.”

The Men’s Anti-Violence Partnership ?'Woman of the Year’ award is given to a local woman who has acted as a role model for other women and girls, and who has demonstrated significant leadership in the fight to end men’s violence against women and girls in the community.

Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup presented Bonvicini with her award.
