TUCSON--UA football players reported to campus Sunday for physicals, equipment services and an initial team meeting, readying for the start of Mike Stoops' first football camp Monday evening.

With some minor exceptions, the full complement of 105 players reported, the number able to participate in camp opening according to NCAA rules. Some roster changes were expected to be known Monday.

While players were reporting to the equipment room downstairs in McKale Center, Stoops spent a bit of his Sunday afternoon with friend and colleague Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN's College Game Day. Herbstreit and a crew were on campus to interview the first-year head coach for an upcoming segment on the popular weekly cut able football preview show. ESPN also spoke on camera to Mike's brother, Mark, the Cats' new defensive coordinator and secondary coach. Another of the UA assistants, tight ends coach Steve Spurrier Jr., kibbutzed with Herbstreit off camera to talk college football while the production crew set up.

But everyone's full attention swivels to the field Monday when fall practice gets underway. Evening sessions are scheduled the rest of the week at the university's recreation fields at Rincon Vista, South Tucson Boulevard at East 15th Street.

Arizona newcomers will under go orientation sessions in the early part of the week and the team will gather for Media Day activities Thursday.

Stoops and staff will culminate eight months of organization and planning with the opening of drills, which will be open to the public during the preseason portion. When school starts Monday, Aug. 23, practices will be closed.
