Tucson, Ariz. ?C University of Arizona volleyball coach Dave Rubio announced Thursday that three student-athletes have signed National Letters-of-Intent during the early signing period to attend school and play volleyball.? The trio will report to Arizona in the fall of 2008.

The Arizona volleyball early signing period class includes Dana Hutchinson, Courtney Karst and Amy Webster.

ˇ?I feel as a good about this class as any class I have ever brought in here in the 16 years I have been coaching at Arizona,ˇ± Rubio said.? ˇ?We filled the needs we have in this program, and we brought some players in who know how to win and are used to winning.? They all have extraordinary talent and a great aptitude for the game.? I feel this is an extraordinary class, and I am very excited about the future of our program.ˇ±

Hutchinson, a 6-foot outside hitter from Laguna Beach, Calif., hails from Laguna Beach HS.

ˇ?Dana is one of the rare players I have seen play the game that has a natural ability to excel at the sport,ˇ± Rubio said.? ˇ?Her volleyball aptitude is so high and her feel for the game allows her to see and play the game in slow motion.? She is a very complete six-rotation player, and I can see her coming into our program and making an impact immediately.ˇ±

Karst, from Centennial, Colo., is a 6-foot middle blocker and outside hitter out of Eaglecrest HS.

ˇ?Courtney is a sleek, dynamic athlete who comes from a very high-level volleyball club,ˇ± Rubio said.? ˇ?She is a multi-talented player who can play several different positions on the court.ˇ±

Webster, from San Diego, Calif., is a 6-foot-2 middle blocker and outside hitter who hails from Scripps Ranch HS.

ˇ?Amy brings good size and terrific athleticism to our team,ˇ± Rubio said.? ˇ?For a player her size, she plays with great agility and at an exceptionally high level.? She is a tough, hardnosed, hard working player.ˇ±

Arizona will take on No. 6 California tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (PST) in Haas Pavilion.
