TEMPE, Ariz. ?- The Arizona softball team notched its third Pac-10 win over No. 17 Arizona State in Tempe on Wednesday, 1-0.
Junior pitcher Alicia Hollowell got her 20th win of the season in a seven-inning, 15-strikeout performance. She allowed two hits in the Cats’ shutout, lowering her season ERA to 0.68. Her record is 20-2 and her season strikeouts tally 286.
Arizona’s lone run came in the top of the first, when Caitlin Lowe reached base on an ASU error and came home on another error by Sundevils catcher Rhiannon Baca.
Autumn Champion led the Cats’ offense collecting a pair of hits in three tries off ASU pitcher Katie Burkhart. Champion is now hitting .379 on the season, third behind Lowe and Kristie Fox.
The Wildcats will be in action at home from Friday through Sunday, April 8-10, against Oregon and No. 12 Oregon State. Friday’s 7:30 p.m. game will be broadcast on ESPNU, Saturday’s 6 p.m. will air on ESPN2 and Sunday’s 1 p.m. afternoon game will show on ESPNU.
