2004-05 Season:  Three-time first team All-American and Honorable Mention for one event... Is responsible for two all-time top performances at Arizona... Held the top-spot on the top-five season best times list... At the NCAA Championships, finished second in the 500 freestyle (4:14.35), was sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:34.87), finished ninth in the 1650 freestyle (15:01.18) and swam the second leg of the third-place 800 free relay... At the Pac-10 Championships, finished fourth in the 1650 freestyle (15:15.39), placed seventh in the 500 freestyle (4:23.80) and ninth (1:37.37) in the 200 freestyle... Against ASU, won the 200 freestyle (1:39.76)... Won the 1650 freestyle (15:31.16) and the 500 freestyle against SMU and Texas... Also finished second in the 400 IM (3:58.14) ... Against Stanford, finished second in the 1000 freestyle (9:22.36) and third in the 500 freestyle (4:32.45)... Took second-place in the 1000 freestyle (9:24.30) against California and second in the 500 freestyle (4:34.53)... Won the 1650 freestyle (15:46.57) against Northwestern and Washington and finished third in the 500 freestyle (4:34.81)... Against British Colombia, finished third in the 100 freestyle and second in the 400 individual medley (4:05.73)... At the Texas Invitational, won the prelims of the 500 freestyle posting an automatic qualifying time of 4:18.07... Also, placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:35.06) fourth in the 1650 freestyle (15:10.52)... Against USC, finished second in the 500 freestyle (4:25.04) and finished second in the 1650 freestyle... Against Wisconsin, won the 500 freestyle (4:33.00).

 

2003-04 Season: First team All-American in the 200 and 400 freestyle, and in the 800 free relay, and honorable mention in the 1500 freestyle... Finished third in the 400-meter freestyle (3:45.51), eighth in the 200-meter freestyle (1:47.49) and 11th in the 1500-meter freestyle (15:09.31) at the 2004 NCAA Championships...At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, placed fourth in the 500 freestyle (4:22.94), fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:37.95) and eighth in the 1650 freestyle (15:22.42)...Won the 800-meter free at Arizona State (8:13.11)...Was first in the 1650 freestyle (15.48.53) and placed second in the 500 freestyle (4:29.52) against Texas...Took third place in the 500 freestyle (4:33.8) against Stanford...Finished second in the 800 freestyle (8:01.72) and third in the 400 freestyle (4:00.85) against Cal...At the 2003 Texas Invitational, Posted three individual NCAA consideration times by  winning the 1650 freestyle (15:10.56), placing second in the 500 freestyle (4:31.91) and finishing third in the 200 freestyle (1:37.88)... Won the 1000 and 500 freestyle events against Wisconsin...

 

At Michigan ?- 2002-03 Season:  Swam for coach John Urbanchek at the University of Michigan... At 2003 NCAA Championships, was part of the 800 free relay that finished third and set a new school record... At 2003 Big Ten Championships, finished third in the 1500 free, sixth in the 200 free and sixth in the 500 free... Helped Michigan win the Big Ten title in 2003.

 

National & International Competition ?- 2001:  Member of U.S. Junior National Team... U.S. national finalist in 2001, finishing seventh in both the 400 and 800 free... Five-time sectional champion... 1500 free champion at 2001 Janet Evans Invitational.

 

Prep: Four-year letterwinner in swimming for coach Teri DeFor at Tucson’s Sabino High School... Two-time first-team all-conference and all-city selection... 2002 Speedo/NISCAA Male Swimmer of the Year... 2002 Arizona Swimmer of the Year...Set school records in the 100, 200 and 500 free... Helped Sabino to a runner-up finish at regionals and a third-place finish at the state championships his senior year... Individually was both the regional and the state champion in both the 200 and 500 free... Set state records in both events... Team MVP in 2001... Competed for the Ford Aquatics club team out of Tucson.

 

Personal: Born Tyler Scott DeBerry on Jan. 9, 1984, in Tucson, Ariz.... His father, Tom, was an All-American basketball player at Northern Arizona University in the early 70s... His mother, Linda, was a three-sport athlete at NAU during the same time frame... His older brother, Justin, plays basketball at Lafayette College... Also has a younger sister, Chelsea... Majoring in business, with an emphasis on marketing.
