Head Coach Sean Miller

"I am very proud of how we performed. We played exactly as I expected we would tonight. In the first half we showed a lot of promise in certain areas, and it's apparent that Nic (Wise) makes a huge impact on our team, and it makes a huge difference having him in the game, unlike the Red-Blue game."

On the number of fouls in the second half

"In the second half, we fouled six times in four minutes, and seventeen times in the half. Usually in games you have to foul because they are bigger and stronger, and in the second half, Augustana did just that. We learned a lot of things tonight that we're going to have to take into practice."

"What I really want for us is to be consistent. I want us to be the same in the middle of the first half as we are in the second. I don't want to see major peaks and valleys. We are trying to become more experienced, and the only way to do that is to play. For eight or nine of our guys tonight was the first time they saw the role that they're going to be playing this season."

"We definitely have to work on our defense. Augustana scored 42 points in the second half, and giving up that many is not something we can continue to do. Augustana got a lot of second chance shots that hurt us, and after some plays we spent a little too much time celebrating the previous play, which let them get through out defense and to the basket."

On Jamelle Horne

"Jamelle was great tonight. He played just as well as he did in practice, and we got a couple really good, high energy plays from him. He was definitely one of the best players on the court tonight."

Arizona Player Quotes

Senior Guard Nic Wise

"It was a good experience. We learned a lot about our team and what we need to work on. When we were clicking, it looked good, but when we weren't, it looked real bad. We have to get back to the drawing board tomorrow."

"My ankle's a little sore, that's why I didn't play a whole lot. It hurt to cut. I feel about 70%, but hopefully I'll be 100% by Western New Mexico."

"It's been the same for me every year. I've had to learn a new offense and anew defense, so this feels about that same."

Sophomore Guard Brendon Lavender

On the defense in this game compared to the Red-Blue scrimmage: "We were more into them. We were playing real hard, real tough. In the Red-Blue game it's hard not to cheat because you know the plays. We need to get better at team defense, but I'm pleased with our defensive effort as a whole."

"The whole coaching staff has helped out my confidence; they've bumped it up a lot, and I think that will carry through the entire season."

Freshman Forward Solomon Hill

On preparing for the season:

"It's very different than high school, getting into the games right away. Every day in practice you have to take what you learn and apply it to the next day, it's really quick. You have to stay up with the other guys too because you don't want to fall behind."

On the freshman working together:

"That's a big thing for us, especially with `Mo' (Lamont Jones) running the point because he runs the team out there. We have to get settled, we have to work together and not play like freshman."
