<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">TUCSON ? </B>Despite the poor weather conditions at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center this afternoon, the fifth-ranked Arizona men&rsquo;s swimming and diving team improved their record to 4-1 (1-1, Pac-10), upsetting No. 4 California, 124-118 for the first time in 14 years, while also downing No.12 Michigan, 122-121.</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>&ldquo;This was a pretty awesome finish for us,&rdquo; head swimming Coach Frank Busch said. &ldquo;To come from behind and win the meet in the final relay was very exciting. This is a hard time of year for the kids because the only thing they do is eat, sleep and swim every single day, which makes them pretty flat. But I am very proud of the guys and the way they hung in there.&rdquo;</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">Note: All events were timed in <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Long Course</I> Meters<SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN><o:p></o:p></B></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Starting off the meet for the Wildcats was the 400-meter medley relay team of juniors Albert Subirats, Ivan Barnes, Darian Townsend and senior Adam Ritter, which won the race with at time of 3:50.50</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Junior Matt Biel picked up a second place finish in the 800-meter free with a time of 8:29.33. In the 200-meter free, freshman Jean Basson finished second with at time of 1:54.91 and sophomore Nicolas Nilo finished fourth (1:56.09).</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Subirats finished second in the 50-meter free with a time of 23.74 and Townsend finished first in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:08.87. </P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Three <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Arizona</st1:place></st1:State> swimmers placed in the top-four of the 100-meter free, as Nilo finished second (51.65), Ritter finished third (52.06) and freshman Jordan Smith finished fourth (53.43). </P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>Freshman Jake Tapp finished third in the 200-meter back, while <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Biel</st1:place></st1:City> finished third in the 400-meter free (4:04.57).
