Stanford , Calif. ?C The Arizona volleyball team lost its fourth-straight in a hard-fought match to No. 4 Stanford (26-2, 15-2 Pac-10) in four games on Saturday night in Maples Pavilion.? Game scores were 30-23, 28-30, 30-20 and 30-28.? With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 13-16 overall, 3-13 Pac-10, and are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.

As a team, Arizona hit .187 (56-27-155) from the floor, and finished with 10 blocks and five service aces.? Stanford hit .287 (71-26-157) in the match, matching the Wildcats with 10 blocks and five service aces.

Individually for the Wildcats, junior Randy Goodenough led the way with 19 kills to go with eight digs.? Freshman Tiffany Owens posted 18 kills, and senior Dominique Lamb added 10 kills on .421 hitting (10-2-19).? Freshman Paige Weber tallied a double-double with 49 assists and a career-high 12 digs, and junior Brittany Leonard finished with a season-high 22 digs.

Junior Foulke Akinradewo led Stanford with 21 kills.

Arizona and Stanford were neck-to-neck in the beginning of game one, but the Wildcats managed to muster an 11-9 advantage.? The Cardinal fired back with an 8-0 scoring run to lead 17-11.? The Wildcats trailed 20-16, but Stanford kept its distance down the stretch for a 30-23 win.? Stanford outhit .308 (18-6-39) to .222 (12-4-36) in game one.

In game two, things were notched up for much of the match until Arizona broke a 25-25 tie with three-straight points to take a 28-25 advantage over the Cardinal.? The Wildcats went up 29-26, and took game two on a kill by junior Brooke Buringrud to win 30-28.? Arizona took the game despite being outhit by the Cardinal .242 (16-8-33) to .222 (15-7-36), as the game featured 13 ties and seven lead changes.

Stanford rebounded from the game-two loss by hitting a blistering .441 (18-3-34) from the floor on the way to a 30-20 game three win.? The Cardinal took an early 10-5 lead and never looked back.? Arizona did manage to cut the deficit to 22-18, but Stanford ended the game on an 8-2 scoring run to kill a possible Arizona comeback.

The Wildcats scratched and clawed at Stanford the entire fourth game trying to keep their postseason hopes alive.? Arizona never gave up, as the game saw eight ties.? The Wildcats had their chance to force a decisive game five, leading Stanford 28-25.? The Cardinal, however, powered their way down the stretch, rattling off five-straight points at the end for a 30-28 win.

Arizona will return home to host No. 8 USC on Friday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. in McKale Center.
