TUCSON - Lovie Jung's two-run single to right-center in the bottom of the sixth gave Arizona an 8-0 victory over New Mexico, to back up one-hit pitching by Alicia Hollowell in the final game of the Worth Wildcat Invitational softball tournament.

Jung's hit drove in pinch-hitters Allyson Von Lichtenstein, who had walked, and Erin Palomarez, who has singled, to end the game on the mercy rule.

Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Jackie Coburn led off with a sigle, was sacrificed to second by Wendy Allen and scored on a double off the left-field fence by Shelly Schultz.

The Cats added a second run in the fourth.Lovie Jung walked and was forced at second by Mackenzie Vandergeest, who moved to second on a single by Coburn. After a second out, UA pulled a delayed double steal, with Vandergeest crossing the plate on the throw to second and Coburn retreating safely back to first.

Consecutive singles by Autumn Champion, Courtney Fossatti and Jung gave UA a third run in the fifth, then Vandergeest knocked home the latter two with a home run to left to make it 6-0.

Arizona finished 4-1 in the tournament for second place. New Mexico finished 1-4 to tie for fourth.

In earlier games, Virginia came from behind to beat Western Michigan, 10-8. The Cavaliers overcame a 7-0 deficit and finished the tournament with their first victory for a 1-4 mark. Western Michigan also finished 1-4 in the round-robin tournament.

Oklahoma State, which beat host Arizona with one hit - a home run - on Friday, romped over Drake in five innings, 15-1. The Cowgirls took the tournament championship with a 5-0 record, while Drake finished 3-2 for third place.
