Diving Completes Day 2 of Zone E Diving Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Junior transfer Daniela Bemme led the way for the University of Arizona divers in the second day of the Zone E Diving Championships at the Oklahoma City Community College Pool. Bemme placed ninth the 1-meter springboard when she garnered a score of 494.15 pts. Bemme also placed ninth in this event at the Pac-10 Championships two weeks ago.

Bemme's 1-meter score on Friday bested her Pac-10 score by almost 250 points.

Elsewhere in the 1-meter, junior All-American Claire Febvay scored 452.80 points en route to a 14th place mark. Febvay placed sixth at the 2003 Pac-10's in the 1-meter (272.25 pts).

In the women's 3-meter competition, Febvay dictated the pace for the Wildcats by finishing 13th (439.10 pts); following five spots behind in 18th was Bemme, who accrued 416.15 pts.

Results for the men's 3-meter preliminaries and finals have not yet been released.

The top three finishers in each event advance on their respective NCAA Championships. The women begin their NCAA's next week from Auburn, Ala. with the men following the week after from Austin, Texas. Meanwhile, the Zone E Diving Championships conclude Saturday with the 10-meter platform competition.
