Steinberg Receives NCAA Bid

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Arizona’s Danielle Steinberg has received an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA singles competition May 21-26 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The singles and doubles competition will take place following the conclusion of the team championship being played May16-21.

For Steinberg, ranked No. 31 overall, this will be her third year competing at the NCAA Championships. Last year she lost to Florida’s Csilla Borsanyi in the first round. As a freshman, she was downed by TCU's Helena Besovic.

The Pac-10 received 16 of the possible 46 at-large bid’s, the most for any conference. Hilary Barte of Stanford received the automatic bid for the Pac-10.

Last weekend Steinberg won her opening round match in the Pac-10 Championships vs. Washington’s Tara Simpson but was downed by Southern California’s Amanda Fink in the second round. Fink will be the sixth seed during the NCAA Championships.
