Brophy came to Tucson from the University of Michigan, where she served as a volunteer assistant. She was also an assistant coach for the Ann Arbor Swim Club and spent the 1998 summer coaching with Richard Shoulberg at Germantown Academy/Foxcatcher in Ft. Washington, Pa. She was a 20-time All-America as a member of the UCLA swim team, and she ranks fifth on the school's all-time performance list for the 100 and 200 freestyle.
At Arizona, Brophy coaches a variety of swimmers, including the middle distance freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and IM swimmers. She also handles the team travel, business matters and the swimming program's budget.
Brophy received her bachelor's degree in psychology from UCLA in 1994. Her course work included personality psychology, human motivation and sports psychology. Brophy was also a three-time dean's list honoree and an Academic All-American in swimming. She is married to former Arizona All-America swimmer Chris Brophy, and they reside in Tucson.
