TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona’s 24th-ranked women’s tennis team defeated No. 74 North Carolina State, 7-0, on Wednesday to stay undefeated at home and earn its fourth-consecutive win. The Wildcats will enter upcoming Pac-12 Conference play with a 10-3 record.

“The team played very well today,” Arizona head coach Vicky Maes said. “We needed for everyone to step up as we had Kim out of our line-up today. NC State is a solid team and knew we needed to compete well. The girls truly took it to heart and everyone put a point on the board.”

Arizona won the doubles point for the fourth-straight match after sophomore Susan McRann (Dublin, Ireland) and freshman Laura Oldham (Sheffield, England) won at the No. 3 spot and senior Sarah Landsman (Syosset, N.Y.) and freshman Hailey Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) sealed the point at No. 2.

Senior Natasha Marks (Nottingham, England) and sophomore Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.) overcame a 4-1 deficit to add another doubles win for the Wildcats by an 8-5 decision.

Every player earned a singles point for Arizona. McRann was first with her defeat of Chloe Smith at the No. 4 spot, followed by Marks at No. 2, senior Debora Castany (Barcelona, Spain) at No. 6 and Landsman at No. 3.

Smyth posted a win against No. 46 Joelle Kissell at the No. 1 spot and Oldham closed out the match with her three-set win at No. 5.

“It was difficult to play in the wind, yet we kept our cool and dominated on every court,” Maes said. “I was very happy to see both Laura and Debora get wins, but I'm also very pleased with the consistent effort we are getting from Lacey, Tash, Sarah and Susan.”

The Wildcats will begin Pac-12 play on Friday, March 16 in a match vs. Washington State in Pullman, Wash. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m. PT.
