HONOLULU, Hawaii. ?- The Arizona women’s tennis team swept Texas State in their three doubles and five singles matches at the Rainbow Wahine Tennis Invitational, on Saturday.
Unlike other fall tournaments, the format of play is similar to dual matches, rather than crowning individual and doubles champions. Despite this format, individual results count, but team records remain unaffected.
Senior Kelly Perry, who had been battling injury throughout the tournament, played with Stephanie Balzert to win the No. 2 doubles match, but did not compete in singles play.
All five singles matches lasted only two sets, with the Wildcats taking each one.
This was the final competition for Arizona before the spring season begins Jan. 23 at Northern Arizona.
