Wildcats Tabbed No. 20 In Latest AVCA Poll

TUCSON – The No. 20 University of Arizona volleyball team (18-7, 7-5) has moved up three positions in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll released Monday.

 

The Cats, coming off wins over previously ranked No. 20 Oregon and Oregon State, head to Los Angeles this weekend to face No. 6 USC and No. 10 UCLA.  In UA’s first meeting with the LA schools, the Cats nearly upset both, falling in five-sets against each.

 

Arizona’s been included in eight of the AVCA’s twelve polls this season with its Preseason billing of No. 18 serving as its highest point. Additionally, UA’s been ranked in five straight polls. 

 

The Cats will be looking to improve its season road record of 7-1 while in Southern California as well as stretch is match winning streak of four. Of UA’s seven losses this season, five have come in five-set affairs.

 

For yet another week, the Pac-10 Conference leads the country with seven teams among the Top 25.  Stanford is the highest ranked at No. 2, followed by No. 4 California, the 6th ranked Trojans, No. 10 UCLA, No. 11 Washington, the Wildcats at No. 20 and No. 23 Oregon.
