Three Arizona volleyball team members were recognized for their efforts in the 2008 season by the Pacific-10 Conference Monday evening.
Sophomore outside hitter Tiffany Owens was named to the All-Pac-10 Team’s Honorable Mention, while freshmen Dana Hutchinson and Courtney Karst were named to the conference’s All-Freshman Team Honorable Mention.
Owens led the team in kills with 333, attempts with 925 and was second on the team in digs with 274. Last season Owens was named to the conference’s All-Freshman Team and earned conference and national player of the week honors this season.
Both Hutchinson and Karst saw significant time in their first season at Arizona. Hutchinson was a versatile player for the Wildcats, playing in 94 sets, averaging .52 kills per set and 1.11 digs per set. This was the second year in a row, the Wildcats had one member named to the all-conference honorable mention and two players on the freshman list.
Stanford senior Foluke Akinradewo was named the conference player of the year, UCLA’s Amanda Gil was awarded the league’s freshman of the year and Stanford’s John Dunning was named coach of the year.
