Hey Wildcat Fans! It's Tuesday, August 24th so you know what that means, school is officially underway! We have been up to a lot since the start of double days so let me get you all up to date with our lives.
Double days were a success, not that we would expect anything less, but they were also very physically demanding and left us all a little sore and tired... but hey, that's part of the job, you know?! Our coaching staff did a great job of monitoring our physical state and gave us some practices off here and there to make sure we weren't too run down during the season, and that was extremely helpful.
The first weekend of double days we went up to Prescott, AZ for a retreat type of getaway. It was so much fun, and we all enjoyed hanging out with each other all weekend long. The seniors even enjoyed scaring some of our teammates... hey, all in good fun right? Needless to say no one was injured or permanently scarred in the pranking haha!
After that we came back for our second and final, for four of us our absolute last, week of double days. It is really strange thinking that I will never again go through double days as a Wildcat, but I guess that's part of growing up. Then we moved on to our Red/Blue Scrimmage this past Saturday. We had so much fun putting on our uniforms and having the chance to compete in McKale Center again. Not to mention we had an awesome crowd. We love to see everyone come out and support us, it really made the event that much more special. The scrimmage was good and we were all happy to finally get to compete in a match.
After all this, here we are, second day of school. After we tell all of our teachers that we play a sport and will be traveling this Thursday, I have a feeling it will be a great semester. They don't put the "student" first in "student-athlete" for nothing. We have to tackle every challenge on and off the court and I have no doubt everyone is up for it.
We head out this Thursday for South Bend, Ind. to play in the Notre Dame tournament. I can't wait to go back to my old stomping ground (well not really, but it's close to Indianapolis!) and see all my friends and family. I just hope it's not too humid when we get there haha!! Wish us luck and remember.... It's a great day to be a Wildcat!
With that, this is #34 signing out.
