Arizona Head Coach Lute Olson Quotes

"Well, rebounds and turnovers were the story of the game for us tonight. We had 12 turnovers in the first half, and we forced too many shots. We did a great job on the glass in the first half. But, we just weren't getting good looks."

"Stanford did a great job defensively. We had a hard time getting good shots, but we made it hard on them, too. Overall, I thought we did a good job defensively. We did a good job on Casey (Jacobsen), and he had a hard time getting good shots all night."

"We had too many mistakes, especially early in the game, and we just did not do a good job offensively. We needed to do a much better job of taking care of the ball in the first half. We didn't hit the shots when we needed them in the end."

"Jason Gardner played great for us. We didn't have Will (Bynum) tonight because he missed a practice, and when you miss a practice, you do not play. That put us in a difficult situation."

"Stanford is a very good defensive team. Curtis Borchardt creates so many problems inside. He only had one blocked shot, but he altered so many shots. They had a strong inside presence, and we did not."

"It was a very tough loss for us, but we need to see how we can respond on Saturday against California. We have to make sure that we get the job done. We need to have a good game all the way around."

Stanford Head Coach Mike Montgomery

"This was a real team effort. Our team stayed together. Curtis (Borchardt) was huge tonight. He was perfect from the free throw line. Our team played like they had nothing to lose. We seemed to be a little more relaxed. We were down 10 rebounds in the first half but by the end of the game we out rebounded them."

"Arizona is a good team. I think they just have a lack of depth. They also seemed a little tired. They only played six guys all night. Maybe they weren't ready to play. (Luke) Walton is really hard to defend. Casey (Jacobson) did a nice job on him. The whole night we had a match up problem with defending him. (Jason) Gardner went off on us tonight. There wasn't much that we could do.

"When we played Arizona at home we didn't score in the last few minutes. I was afraid that we were going to do that in this game. It was hard for either team to score."
