TUCSON, Ariz. - Former University of Arizona men's golfer Creighton Honeck is among the players scheduled to compete at this weekend's Reno-Tahoe Open.
Honeck, a Wildcat letterwinner from 2004-08, begins play in the PGA Tour event on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 8:50 a.m. PDT from the first tee. He won last week's Sierra Nevada Open with a 65-68=133 (-11) total to claim a sponsor's exemption.
A native of Austin, Texas, Honeck finished his collegiate career with a 73.19 stroke average, the 16th-best mark in school history. He was the 2008 Pac-10 Conference individual champion and garnered first-team all-conference honors.
The Reno-Tahoe Open runs through Sunday at the Montreux Golf & Country Club. The event features a $3 million purse and a $540,000 share for the winner.
