EUGENE, Ore. - Arizona senior quarterback Jason Johnson today earned first-team Verizon Academic All-District VIII Football honors.

Johnson, of Puyallup, Wash., graduated last May with a 3.79 cumulative grade average in business management, and is a current graduate student in religious studies.

The District honor was his second consecutive, as he was named to the second-team All-Academic list a year ago. He also earned first-team Academic All-Pac-10 honors last season.

Johnson became Arizona's single-season passing yardage leader with 2,566 yards in the Wildcats' game last week against UCLA. He's within three completions of a record 194 in a season. He enters UA's game at California this week rating No. 23 in the nation with 19 completions per game.

As the District VII academic quarterback selection, Johnson is eligible for Verizon Academic All-America honors to be voted on by the nation's sports information directors in coming weeks.
