TUCSON, Ariz. - Derrick Williams was named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The sophomore forward led the Wildcats to wins over Rice and Oklahoma last week.

The La Mirada, Calif., native scored 18 points in the 84-57 win over Rice on the road. He also posted 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the year. Williams hit 7-of-8 field goals and grabbed five offensive rebounds. He followed that performance with 16 points, four rebounds and a career-high four steals in Arizona's 83-60 victory over Oklahoma. Williams has finished in double figures in all eight games this year and has a streak of 17 consecutive games in double figures dating back to last season.

For the week, he averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in the two contests.

It is Williams' first career Pac-10 Player-of-the-Week honor and the 77th weekly recognition for Arizona all-time.

Arizona will next be in action on Wednesday, Dec. 8, when the Wildcats host Cal State Fullerton. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MST and will be televised locally by KWBA-TV and nationally on Fox College Sports Central.
