FSN Arizona has announced its plans to televise the University of Arizona vs. Arizona State University baseball game at Chase Field live on Sunday, April 2, at 5 p.m. The game, which is being billed as the "Challenge at Chase," marks the first time the two programs have met in the downtown Phoenix venue and marks the beginning of an annual ASU/UA baseball match-up at Chase Field that will be a non-conference game for both teams.
For FSN Arizona's telecast, Trey Bender will handle the play-by-play while former UA baseball head coach Jerry Kindall is the analyst. Kindall helped guide the Wildcats to three national championships (1976, 1980, 1986) while coaching at Arizona from 1973-96.
"We are thrilled to be able to televise this game and showcase two of college baseball's top programs," said FSN Arizona Vice President & General Manager Mike Connelly. "This game will have a Major League feel and our telecast will further add to this unique experience for the players, coaches and fans."
In conjunction with this event, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced that all proceeds from the annual game will go towards the building or refurbishing of youth baseball and softball fields. These fields will be located throughout the state and will feature the logos of the Diamondbacks and the two universities. The partnership plans to host youth clinics and camps in the future at those sites.
