LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Freshman Kyndall Ardoin fired a 1-over round of 73 to help the Arizona blue squad into 7th place after one round of the Price’s Give ‘Em Five Intercollegiate tournament, Monday morning at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.
Ardoin is one of four players sitting four shots off the individual pace after going out in 36 before adding one stroke to her total on the back nine. Three players hold the individual lead at 3-under par on the par-72, 6,319-yard course.
The Arizona blue team, essentially a junior varsity squad, is 10 shots behind overall leader UC Irvine, which heads the field at 6-over par 294. The Wildcats are also just six shots out of holding third place, which is occupied by Fresno State at 10-over par.
Senior Emily Mason and sophomore Nikki Koller are among a group of players tied for 26th place after logging rounds of 76 to sit 4-over par. Freshman Marie Tschida shot 79 in her collegiate debut while sophomore Ashley Malaska rounded out the five-person team with a round of 82.
Round two begins with a shotgun start and the Wildcats starting on holes seven through nine at 8:30 a.m. (CST)
