TEMPE, Ariz. (Oct. 7, 2000) -- Arizona senior Michelle Gough, ranked 64th in the ITA pre-season rankings, fell to Arizona State's Megan Yeats, 6-0, 6-1, in the quarterfinals of the Thunderbirds Invitational on October 7.

Junior Laresa Marino defeated Texas's Pauline Trinchant, 6-2, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of consolation play before falling short in the semifinals to Celena McCoury of Arizona State, 6-4, 6-3.

In the back-back draw, freshman Perrine Pernin defeated Darian Chappell of UC Irvine, 6-0, 6-3, before dropping in the semifinals to Siri Fomsgaard of San Diego, 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-3.

In doubles play, the duo of Gough and Marino made it to the quarterfinals, with an 8-4 win against California's Christina Fusano and Nicole Havlicek, where they then fell to Ziva Grasic and Rebekah Forney of Texas, 8-4.

The Wildcats can next be seen in action Saturday, October 14, at the ITA All-American Tournament.
