No. 63 Arizona Men's Tennis Drops Match to USC, 2-5
Los Angeles - The University of Arizona men's tennis fell to the 18th-ranked Southern California Trojans, 2-5, on Saturday. The Wildcats won two singles matches and were swept in doubles competition. The Cats are now 7-8 on the season.
On the singles side, playing in the first position, senior Steven Capriati, ranked No. 41 in the nation, bounced back from Friday's loss, to defeat No. 62 Andrew Park, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. No. 118 Sophomore Whi Kim, in the second spot, fell to No. 76 Ryan Moore in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Sophomore Carl Hagman, playing in the third position, notched one of biggest wins this season as he defeated No. 27 Nick Rainey, 4-6, 7-6, 10-6. Competing in the fourth spot, senior Bruno Arapovic fell to Daniel Langre, 6-1, 7-5. Freshman Colin O'Grady, competing in the fifth slot, lost to Ruben Torres, 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Arnaud Agniel fell to Teige Sullivan, 6-3, 7-5, in the sixth position.
Arizona lost all three doubles matches, therefore USC won the doubles point. The team of Capriati and Hagman fell to No. 13 Rainey and Moore, 8-6. In the second position, Kim and Brateanu lost to Park and Spizzo, 8-6. O'Grady and Agniel, competing in the third spot, was defeated by Langre and Torres, 8-6.
The Wildcats are back in action on Friday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m., when they face the Washington Huskies in Seattle, Wash.
