ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Arizona's bats exploded for 16 hits off New Mexico pitching, and Kenzie Fowler tossed her second no-hitter of the season in a 14-0 five-inning win Sunday at Lobo Field.
Along with her no-no, Fowler (18-2) did work with the bat as well, nabbing three hits - including her first career home run.
Brigette Del Ponte knocked in Arizona's first run on a two-out single in the first before the Cats exploded for eight runs in the second.
Fowler homered on a 2-1 pitch with one out, Schutzler cleared the bases with a double, Arredondo knocked her in with a base hit and Del Ponte hit a three-run shot. The freshman Fowler later doubled with two outs in the inning, and the Cats finished the inning up 9-0.
K'Lee Arredondo's two-RBI single in the fourth capped the scoring.
Fowler struck out eight and issued two walks.
UNM starter Samantha Gatson gave up nine runs on eight hits in two innings of work. She fell to 3-7 on the season. Kaela DeBroeck tossed three frames, scattering an equal number of hits.
