Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller
"I thought we had a great first half. We had only 4 turnovers, and to have that many against a quality opponent, like Northern Arizona, shows our versatility on offense. I especially give credit to Nic (Wise), especially in the transition."
"We have a lot of different options for our offense, but still a lot to learn on defense. Our opponents will get an easy dunk, or an open shot, and the only way to counteract that is to see it in game time, over and over."
"Our second half was definitely not as good as the first. We turned the ball over more than the first half, and Northern Arizona was able to get in some good plays from Cameron Jones, who led them with 29 points. We will definitely address our second half play, especially with so many teams in our schedule with players like Jones to lead them."
On Nic playing with an injured ankle
"Nic is really the heart and soul of our team. For any Wildcat fan, Wise definitely shows what a college basketball player is really all about. He didn't have to play today, he could have said that he wouldn't have put up a good performance with the injury, but he wanted to come out and lead our team. We really did need him and he came out and played hard."
On No. 44 Solomon Hill
"Solomon can do a lot for us. He is a good passer, and a good ball handler, which is very good for us. He is also one of our best offensive rebounders. Right now we are playing him in two positions, and that's hard for anyone, let alone a freshman, but by the end of the season I think we will see him as one of our best freshman players."
"It's a great basketball statistic to make more free throws than our opponent, and you're going to have a good win percentage when you do. It reflects how good we are at getting the ball down to the basket. Because we don't have a big front line, that's not easy, but we managed to do it well."
"Today was a good game for our first win, but we definitely need to improve going into our next game, and I know that we will continue to get better after each game."
Arizona Player Quotes
On his shooting:
"As long as I'm open, I like any shot. I have been shooting, I just have to start making more."
On the win:
"It's a great feeling. I'm more happy about our group. There are a lot of younger guys. We stuck together and got the win. I'm proud of our group."
"Last year was a one, two, three type of thing with the big three, but this year it's more about the team. We've got so much versatility."
On his abilities:
"I do a little bit of everything. I can go by people, shoot the ball, pass the ball and post up. If you take away one element, I'll beat you another way. If you guard that, I'll beat you another way."
