Graduated from Tucson High School in Tucson, Ariz., in 2004 where he earned four varsity letters in baseball for head coach Oscar Romero ... Was team captain his senior season and batted .500 with six home runs for the year ... Named All-Southern Arizona his junior and senior seasons ...
