TUCSON , Ariz. ?C?The Arizona womenˇ?s soccer team was defeated by the California Golden Bears, 2-0, Sunday at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.

?

The win improves the Bears record to 10-5-0 (2-3-0), while dropping the Cats record to 6-10-1 (1-4-1).

?

For the second straight game Arizona was tied, 0-0, going to the half, but second half struggles led to a defeat.? Arizona out-shot Cal eight to two in the first half, but had nothing to show for it.

?

ˇ?I thought we played great in the first half.? We did everything right but score.? Calˇ?s goalkeeper made three great saves,ˇ± head coach Dan Tobias said.? ˇ?I think if we score in the first half, itˇ?s a different game.ˇ±

?

Cal scored its first goal when Arizona failed to clear the ball out of its zone.??Caitlin Hannegan took the ball and went one-on-one with Cats goalkeeper Halley Brown, scoring her third goal of the season, at the 61:40 mark.

?

The Bears scored again 10 minutes later; Nikki Schrey took a shot from outside of the box that was just out of the reach of Brown.

?

ˇ?It was another game where we didnˇ?t stick out chances away and they put their two best chances in the goal,ˇ± said Tobias.? ˇ?They turned our mistakes into goals, thatˇ?s what happens in the Pac-10, especially this year.ˇ±

?

The second half was a different story for Arizona offensively; the Cats only had three shots in the half and none on goal.

?

ˇ?We needed a win today with the stretch of Stanford, Cal, USC, and UCLA next weekend,ˇ± Tobias said.? ˇ?I expect us to play well the rest of the season and not fell sorry for ourselves because if you fell sorry for yourself this conference will take advantage of you.ˇ±

?
