TUCSON -- Senior shortstop K'Lee Arredondo was named to the 2010 CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 first team Thursday, the second consecutive year that she has been honored by the organization.
Arredondo, a native of Tempe, Ariz., graduates this semester with a 3.55 GPA in her major of psychology and a minor in criminal justice. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and be at least a sophomore academically.
On the field, Arredondo is currently hitting a career-high .369 and is second on the team in runs scored. She has started 214 games as a Wildcat, her first year as a left fielder and the last three at shortstop.
In 2009, Arredondo became the first Arizona player recognized for the academic honor since Autumn Champion was honored in 2006.
Arizona takes on Oregon in a three-game series in Eugene beginning tonight at 6 p.m.
Arredondo and fellow seniors Sarah Akamine and Ashley Ralston-Alvarez will be recognized at UA' Senior Day ceremony following the regular-season finale between UCLA and Arizona next Saturday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
