5.10-12.12 NCAA East Regional Championships Tournament Notes Get Acrobat Reader

TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf team will continue the postseason portion of the schedule with the NCAA East Regional Championships, hosted by Penn State. Held at Penn State Blue Golf Course in State College, Pa., competition will take place Thurs.-Sat., May 10-12. The Penn State Blue Golf Course is a par 72, 6,253-yard course. The 54-hole tournament will be played over the course of three days, with 18 holes played on each day.

UA, ranked No. 18, will tee off at 8:36 a.m. ET on Thursday and at 12:56 p.m. ET on Friday while playing with No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 15 Florida. The top eight teams from each region advance to the NCAA Championships on May 22-25, hosted by Vanderbilt, in Franklin, Tenn.

The field for the tournament features nine teams ranked in the top-25, according to Golfstat, and three top-10 ranked teams. Competing this weekend will be No. 18 Arizona, No. 2 Alabama, No. 5 Arizona State, Augusta State, No. 58 Campbell, No. 73 Chattanooga, No. 8 Duke, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 15 Florida, No. 114 Jacksonville State, No. 50 Kent State, LIU Brooklyn, No. 54 Maryland, No. 20 Oklahoma State, No. 103 Oral Roberts, No. 25 South Carolina, No. 24 Michigan State, No. 29 Washington, No. 32 Texas, No. 35 Tulane, UCF, No. 42 Wake Forest, No. 44 Northwestern and No. 47 San Diego State (Golfstat rankings as of May 2). Additionally, six individuals will be playing to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Seniors Isabelle Boineau, Nikki Koller and Margarita Ramos, freshman Manon Gidali and junior Kyndall Ardoin will play for the Arizona team this weekend. Arizona is currently ranked No. 14 by the Golfweek/Sagarin Poll (4/29/12), No. 18 by Golfstat (5/2/12) and No. 19 by the Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll (4/18/12).

The Wildcats saw three of their players earn spots on the All-Pac-12 Conference teams. Arizona earned a third-place finish at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships last weekend and, in the last three seasons, has earned first, second and bronze finishes in the conference tournament. Gidali was named first-team All-Pac-12. Boineau was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. She earned the third conference postseason award of her career after being named first team in 2011 and second team in 2010. Ramos was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. She earned the third conference postseason award of her career after being named first team in 2011 and second team in 2010.
