TUCSON, Ariz. - The second round of the 2003 PING-Arizona Intercollegiate was suspended Monday at 6:30 p.m. MST due to darkness. About two-thirds of the field still has one hole to play, as only six groups completed the second 18 holes of the day.

Play will resume Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 8:45 a.m. MST with the completion of the second round. The final round will immediately follow at approximately 9:15 a.m.

After the first round, UCLA leads the field by three strokes. The Bruins carded a 273 (-11) team total in the opening round to lead the 16-team field by three strokes. Host Arizona posted its low round of the year at 276 (-8) and stands in second place, four strokes ahead of Pepperdine (280). USC (282) and Pepperdine (282) round out the top five places.

Individually, two players are tied for the lead after Monday's 18 holes, as Arizona's Reid Hatley and UCLA's Roy Moon each fired a six-under par 65. Hatley's 65 was a career-low for the senior from Sopkane, Wash., and Arizona's low round of the season. All told, there were 14 players within four strokes of the lead after the first round.

In addition to Hatley's efforts, junior Chris Nallen was also among the top-five individuals, as he carded a four-under-par 67 and stands in a tie for fifth place with Wake Forest's Bill Haas. For Nallen, it was his second consecutive round in the 60s and his fourth in his last six stroke-play.

Also competing for the Widlcat varsity was senior Ricky Barnes, who is tied for 22nd place after a first-round 71 (E), senior Andrew Medley, who made his UA debut Monday with a two-over 73, and is tied with teammate Blaine Peffley in a group of eight golfers for 45th place.

The Arizona Junior Varsity currently stands in a tie for seventh place after Monday's 285 (+1) total. Senior Brian Woolf leads the way in a tie for seventh place after a three-under 68. Sophomore Kipp Riehle is tied for 11th place at 69 (-2), while Nick Juszczak is tied for 45th place at 73 (+2). Nathan Lashley and Zack Amole are both tied for 58th place after an opening round 75 (+4).

The 54-hole tournament is being contested at Arizona National Country Club at Sabino Springs, a par 71, 6,793-yard facility. Live scoring is available on-line at www.golfstat.com.
