Arizona women's soccer player Shannon Monti has been named second team Academic All-Pac-10, announced the league office on Wednesday. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Monti, a senior goalkeeper, holds a 3.31 grade-point average in studio arts. She wrapped up her Arizona career this fall in second place on the UA career list in minutes played (4024), second in goals-against average (2.50), third in fewest goals allowed (112), third in saves (253), third in shutouts (3) and tied for seventh in games started (47).

This season, Monti led the Pac-10 in saves (108) and in saves per game (6.0 spg) while starting all 18 matches in-goal for the Wildcats. She had three double-digit saves performances, and her 1653 minutes played is the second-highest single season minutes total ever played by a UA goalkeeper.

Monti helped the Cats to a 5-12-1 record overall and a 2-7-0 Pac-10 mark this season. The squad surpassed the 2000 season win total, and they had more Pac-10 wins than any team since 1997.
