TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona men's and women's diving teams will compete in the annual Arizona Diving Invite this weekend, starting at noon Friday Nov. 16 at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. The event will continue at noon on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The competition will include top divers from Stanford, Cal, Boise State, Buffalo, Northern Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State, New Mexico, BYU, Tulane, Northern Colorado, and Las Vegas.
The Wildcat teams will be looking for key performances this weekend after previously dropping two close meets with UCLA and USC. The men divers will be led by sophomore Carter Craft and freshman Rafael Quintero, who placed first in the 3m dive last week against USC. On the women's side, junior Ashley Herrera and sophomore Izzy Diamond will be trying to put up high scores.
On Saturday, the women swimmers will have a dual against Boise State. The women are 4-2 overall, 1-2 in the Pac-12, and ranked 13th in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America top-25 poll. Junior Margo Geer and freshman Bonnie Brandon have made a big impact early for the Wildcats, posting top national times. Geer has the best time in the nation in the 100 free (48.55) and the sixth best in the 200 free (1:46.58). Brandon has also posted nationally competitive times, currently ninth fastest in the 500 free (4:47.73) and fifth fastest in the 200 back (1:56.35).
About Boise State:
The Broncos are 2-0 on the season, beating both in-state rival Idaho and Pac-12 opponent Oregon State. Freshman Devin Madsen has led the way for Boise State early in the season, winning the 100 and 200 back in both meets. She has already posted the sixth fastest time in school history for the 100 back, and the seventh fastest in the 200 back.
