Swim and Dive Post Pac-10 Title in 200-yard Medley Relay

Long Beach, Calif. - The No. 7 Arizona women’s swimming and diving team finished the first two events of the 2006 Pac-10 Championships Wednesday, tied for first-place with California (120 points) while posting one Pac-10 title.

 

            This is the conference title in school history for the women in the 200 medley relay as seniors Marshi Smith, Erin Sieper, freshman Lara Jackson and freshman Anna Turner won the race with a time of 1:39.60.

 

                        The Wildcats completed tonight’s events with the 800 free relay composed of junior Whitney Myers, sophomore Courtney Cashion, senior Jenna Gresdal and sophomore Lacey Nymeyer who finished second with a time of 7:10.00 while tallying the second ?'A’ qualifying time for the NCAA Championships in March.

 

            The women will return to action tomorrow for day two of the Pac-10 Championships at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. Preliminaries will begin at 11 a.m. (PST) and finals will start at 6 p.m.
