2011 Recruits Highlight Video

TUCSON—University of Arizona Coach Mike Stoops and staff signed 17 players to National Letters of Intent today, a class split evenly among offensive and defensive recruits. The signees join five players who enrolled at mid-year.

“We’re pleased with the overall class and the job our staff did in evaluation and keeping on top of the entire process,” Stoops said. “We filled immediate needs and got players on both sides of the ball and for the kicking game.”

“We were able to sign some quality Arizona players, continue to keep our profile nationally and stay with some of our strong areas in California and Texas,” he said.

The Wildcats signed with balance, bringing in 11 offensive players, nine defensive players and two kickers. Some players may well have futures at other positions, Stoops said.

UA inked the most from the state of California, with nine recruits, followed by three from Texas, three from Arizona, two from Hawaii, two from Oklahoma and one each from Louisiana, Utah and American Samoa.

The five players already enrolled in classes for the spring semester include two prep players and three junior college transfers.
