TUCSON - University of Arizona Wildcat head women's basketball coach Niya Butts spoke to the breakfast Lions Club, a group of 40 members, Wednesday morning in Tucson. A regular at these meetings, Butts has been invited to speak to the group in each of her three seasons with the Wildcats.
"I always welcome the opportunity to be a part of Tucson community meetings and enjoy the chance to visit with members of the community," Butts said. "I'm fortunate that the breakfast Lions Club has invited me to speak at their meetings three times since my arrival at UA, once each season. They are a well-organized group that does great work for our community."
The Wildcats will begin practice on Mon., Oct. 4 with the first exhibition game scheduled for Nov. 2 against Grand Canyon. The regular season will begin with a contest at Wichita State on Nov. 11.
"Our coaching staff and team are very excited about the start of practice next week and the start to regular season contests in early November," Butts said. "We have done a lot of work in the off-season and we are ready to see all that hard work put into action. We have a very talented and experienced team this season and, as a coaching staff, we think the possibilities are endless."
