????????????SAN DIEGO ?C?The Arizona offense roared back to life with 11 runs on 17 hits and starter Mike Colla tossed six strong innings as the Wildcats (16-11) defeated San Diego State (18-14), 11-6, at Tony Gwynn Stadium on Tuesday.

?

????????????Senior C.J. Ziegler led the resurgence at the plate, finishing 4 for 6 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Junior T.J. Steel (3 for 5, 2 R) and freshman Bryce Ortega (3 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) each finished the contest with three hits and junior Brad Glenn hit a three-run homer, his fourth of the year, as part of UAˇ?s four-run seventh inning.

?

????????????Seven of the nine starters in the game finished with at least one hit and eight different Wildcats scored at least one run. Arizonaˇ?s 17 hits were the most since collecting a season-high 20 in a 16-0 blowout win over Notre Dame on March 9 at the Whataburger Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas.

?

????????????Colla, who evened his record at 2-2 for the year, tied his career-high with six innings on the mound and finished with six strikeouts and two walks. The junior right-hander worked out of trouble in the first, third and fifth innings by stranding runners in scoring position each time. Collaˇ?s effort helped lead to a 2 for 12 night on RBI opportunities for the Aztecs.

?

????????????Trailing 1-0 after two, the Wildcats took the lead for good in the third with a pair of runs on RBI singles by Colt Sedbrook and Ziegler. UA tacked on two apiece in the fifth and sixth innings with Ziegler and Ortega each collecting run scoring doubles.

?

????????????Ziegler and Dillon Baird led off the seventh with a single and double ahead of Glenn. The junior followed with a towering homer over the leftfield fence to push UAˇ?s lead to 9-1 and Ortega added his second RBI of the game on an infield single to make it a nine-run cushion.

?

????????????The Aztecs threatened a comeback in the home half of the seventh when UA reliever Daniel Schlereth gave up an infield single, issued a walk and hit back-to-back batters before allowing a grand slam to Nick Romero to make it 10-6 Arizona.

?

The Wildcat left-hander would eventually settle down and end the SDSU rally by retiring the next three hitters in the seventh and the side in order in the eighth before closer Jason Stoffel sealed things up by striking out the side in the ninth.

?

Arizona and San Diego State will wrap up the two-game series on Wednesday at 1 p.m. UA has not announced a starter.
