TUCSON - University of Arizona sophomore running back Ka'Deem Carey has been named a College Football Performance Award Honorable Mention Running Back of the Week, it was announced on Sunday. He rushed for 172 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown in Saturday's 41-34 loss to Arizona State.

Carey broke Trung Canidate's single-season school-record rushing mark of 1,602 yards from 1999 in the first quarter vs. Arizona State. Against Colorado on Nov. 10, he broke the Pac-12 and UA school single-game rushing record with 366 yards on the ground. The previous Pac-12 best was 357 yards from Washington State's Rueben Mayes in 1984.

Carey is the nation's leading rusher in total yardage (1,757) and yards per game (146.42). He also leads all FBS players in total yards from scrimmage (2,045) and ranks No. 2 in yards from scrimmage per game (170.4). In all-purpose yardage, Carey ranks No. 5 nationally and second in the Pac-12 with a total of 2,061 yards and No. 7 nationally and No. 2 in the league in all-purpose yards per game (171.8).

He leads the nation in rushing plays for 10+ yards with 54 and 20+ yards with 20. Carey's 21 touchdowns (20 rushing and one receiving) rank tied for third nationally and No. 2 in the Pac-12. His 5.96 yards per carry over his career ranks No. 4 nationally among active FBS running backs. He currently averages 6.39 yards per carry.

Carey is the first Wildcat to register back-to-back 200-plus yard rushing games and is just the third to have multiple 200-yard games in his career. He has topped 100 yards rushing nine times this season alone, just a year after the Wildcats broke 100 yards as a team only five times in 12 contests in 2011. Seven of his 100-yard games have come against Pac-12 schools.

Arizona's bowl destination will be announced Sun., Dec. 2.
