????????????TUCSON, Ariz. ?C?Senior C.J. Ziegler hit his sixth home run in top-ranked Arizonaˇ?s seventh game of the year to lead the Wildcats (6-1) past visiting UNLV, 6-5, ?at Kindall Field on Tuesday. The victory was Arizona sixth straight and snapped UNLVˇ?s (5-4) three-game win streak.

?

????????????Tied 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Ziegler smacked Rebel reliever Michael Goodmanˇ?s 0-1 offering over the left field fence. The blast marked the third straight game with at least one home for Ziegler and was his fourth two-out fence-buster of the year.

?

????????????The one-run edge was more than enough for Arizonaˇ?s relieving tandem of Daniel Schlereth and Jason Stoffel, as the duo combined to strike out three batters and close out the victory over the final two innings.

?

????????????The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second on an inside-the-park home run by Colt Sedbrook.

?

After Brad Glenn drew a walk sandwiched around a pair of fly outs, Sedbrook drilled Thomas Whitsettˇ?s pitch to straight away center, hitting the top of the wall. The ball careened away from centerfielder J.J. Sferra and back towards the infield allowing Sedbrook and Glenn to race around the bases for the first inside job by a Wildcat since 2005 when Trevor Crowe did so against the very same UNLV club.

?

????????????The Rebels stormed back to take the lead 3-2 in the third on a bases loaded double by Steve Rinaudo off of starter Mike Colla. The UA right-hander surrendered back-to-back one-out singles to Sferra and Jesse Wight and loaded the bases by walking Xavier Scruggs.

?

????????????Rinaudo then cleared them all with a two-bagger that sailed over the outstretched hand of centerfielder T.J. Steele to give UNLV the lead.

?

????????????Arizona retook the lead in the fourth on a solo homer by Steele and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Daniel Butler to make it 4-3, but the Rebels bounced back in the top of the fifth to tie the game on a double steal attempt that went awry for the Wildcats.

?

????????????With runners on the corners Drew Beuerlein broke for second on a steal attempt, Butler threw to second and was on target to Sedbrook covering at the bag. As the throw left home, Rinaudo broke for the plate and Sedbrook saw the ball bounce off his glove and over his head for an error that allowed Rinaudo to score.

?

????????????Dillon Baird answered with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the inning that plated Ziegler from second to hand the Cats a 5-4 advantage, but UNLV tied it back up on a bases loaded infield nubber in the sixth.

?

????????????Ziegler finally put a cap on the scoring with his solo bomb in the seventh. He finished the contest 2 for 3 with a double, the solo home run, an RBI and two runs scored.

?

????????????UA right-hander Cory Burns (1-0) picked up his first win of the season with 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief and Stoffel converted his fourth save of the season over the final 1 1/3 innings.

?

????????????UNLVˇ?s Goodman (0-1) was charged with the loss after giving up the go-ahead homer to Ziegler.

?

????????????The two schools will close out the midweek series on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Right-hander Ryan Perry is the scheduled starter for the Wildcats.
