TUCSON -

Arizona showed speed and power and moved into Sunday's Pepsi Arizona Softball Classic title game with a 4-0 mark after an 10-1 victory over Nevada Las Vegas Saturday night.

Freshman Caitlin Lowe showed both from her lead-off position in the batting order.

UA started quickly, as it had all weekend, scoring in its first at-bat.

Caitlin Lowe bounced a single to left, Autumn Champion singled to short and Lowe beat a throw to third on an attempted force off Wendy Allen's fielder'c choice. Mackenzie Vandergeest lined to right for a sacrifice fly and one run, and then Champion beat a throw back to the plate after a wild pitch to make it 2-0 on only two hits -- both singles.

UA pushed it to 3-0 in the bottom of the third without a hit. Champion walked and stole second, and then scored from second on an error.

The Cats scored a pair of runs in the fourth with two hits. Jackie Coburn struck out but reached safely on a wild pitch, Erin Palomarez walked, and Allyson Von Liechtenstein hit a bunt single. The Runnin' Rebels got a force at the plate and Jacque Kerrigan struck out pinch-hitter Jennifer Martinez, but Allen lined a single through the hole for two runs.

UNLV (2-2) snapped Allen's shutout pitching in the top of the fifth. Joanna Jackson walked and an out later moved to third on Kacey Ellis' single off Allen's glove. After Allen struck out a batter, Becky McDonald singled in Jackson.

The Cats answered quickly. Shelly Schultz and Kristie Fox singled, and then Coburn blasted her first home run of the year to left center. Von Liechtenstein singled, and leadoff batter Caitlin Lowe socked her first homer to end the game on the eight-run rule.

Allen earned her fisrt victory with a three-hitter, striking out seven in the five-inning stint.

UNLV will play Cal State Northridge (2-2) at 10 a.m. in Sunday's consolation final, while at noon Arizona meets New Mexico (2-2), Seed No. 2 on the basis of run differential in its games with CSN and UNLV.
