TUCSON, Ariz. ?- Arizona football entered its final days of spring practice with a session in full pads on Wednesday at both the Jimenez Practice Facility and Arizona Stadium, winding down in preparations for pulling out all the stops in Saturday’s Spring Game.

“I feel we’ve made good progress on both sides of the ball. Hopefully we can get some good drives going on Saturday,” second-year Head Coach Mike Stoops said. “After 15 practices there is no one better to stop the offense than our own defense, since they have seen the same thing everyday.”

UA has a short workout in shorts planned for Thursday and players will get Friday off.

The Cats will put on full gear for the last time this month in Saturday afternoon’s Spring Game at Arizona Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. (MST) start.

NOTES... Wide receiver B.J. Dennard returned to some drills after sitting out a few practices with a shoulder injury. He may be able to go Saturday in the scrimmage... Others still sidelined who will not see action Saturday include; senior safety Darrell Brooks, sophomore quarterback Richard Kovalcheck, redshirt freshman lineman Sheldon Watts, senior linebacker Sean Jones, sophomore linebacker Spencer Larsen, junior safety Michael Johnson and junior defensive tackle Paul Philipp...  The Cats appear to have improved depth on the defensive interior, with junior transfer Byron Smith and sophomore Lionel Dotson at the tackle spots. Sophomores Lawrence Ball and Yaniv Barnett are making good progress and pushing Smith and Dotson for starting roles... At middle linebacker, redshirt freshman Ronnie Palmer has stepped in where injured Spencer Larsen was expected to contend after a two-year hiatus for a Mormon mission, and senior Randy Sims and sophomore Dane Krogstad flank Palmer at the other linebacker spots. Junior John McKinney and redshirt freshman Brandon Lopez also have seen plenty of action behind Sims and Krogstad, while junior Akin Akinniyi is backing up the middle...Stoops said there will be four 12 minute quarters in Saturday’s Spring Game.
