Men's Golf Ties for Third at National Invitational Tournament

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The Arizona men’s golf team finished in a tie for third at the National Invitational Tournament held at Arizona National in Tucson, Arizona.  The Wildcats shot an eight-under par 280 in the final round to bring their tournament total to 852 (-12).  Arizona State University claimed the team victory with a three round total of 840 (-24).

 

Niklas Lemke from Arizona State won the individual crown with a total score of nine-under par 207.

 

Senior Brian Prouty finished fourth, only three strokes behind Lemke.  The Tucson native totaled a six-under par 210 through 54 holes.

 

Fellow senior Nathan Tyler finished in a tie for seventh after carding an even par 72 during the third round.  Also a native of Tucson, Tyler finished the tournament with a total score of 212 (-4).

 

Senior Josh Esler tied for 16th place with a total score of 215 (-1), while senior Josh Wilks was three strokes behind and finished in a tie for 29th place.

 

Senior Ben Marsh tied for 34th place with a 54-hole total of 219 (+3).  Fellow Wildcats junior Trey Denton and sophomore Ben Fox tied for 43rd after carding a four-over par 220 through three rounds of play.

 

Sophomore Tyler Neal tied for 48th place, junior Creighton Honeck tied for 55th place, freshman Pete Oriol tied for 59th place, senior Brett Carter finished in 73rd place, sophomore Nick Park tied for 76th place, and freshman Josh Porter finished in 78th place.
