TUCSON, Ariz. - The 2002 Pacific-10 Diving Championships are being held at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on the University of Arizona campus. This afternoon the men competed on the three meter springboard while the women were on the one meter.
Diving in front of his home squad today senior All-American Omar Ojeda defended his Pac-10 title on the men's three meter, scoring 611.05 points. All five of the Wildcat divers scored this afternoon, placing five Arizona competitors in the top-eight. Senior All-American Ruben Vaca was the runner-up with 552.60 points. Placing third was sophomore Josh Anderson with a point total of 545.05. Rounding out the Arizona divers were junior Scott Koenig in sixth place (482.75) and sophomore Alex Vollelunga in seventh place (478.65).
On the women's side of the event Southern California's Blythe Hartley took home first place on the one meter with 325.50 points. She was followed by Stanford's Ashlee Rosenthal (286.80) and fellow Trojan Dominica Fusaro (282.65).
For the Wildcat women sophomore Claire Febvay placed fourth with a point total of 263.45.
The competition will resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the preliminaries of the men's one meter followed by the preliminaries of the women's three meter. The third and final day of competition will be Saturday when the preliminaries of the platform start at 10:00 a.m.
