TUCSON, Ariz. -
Senior women’s tennis player Natasha Marks (Nottingham, England) fell in the semifinals at the ITA Regionals on Sunday in San Diego, Calif. Marks lost to USC’s Sabrina Santamaria, 6-3, 7-6, but posted an impressive 4-1 singles record and also won her only doubles match with partner, Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.).
Overall, the Wildcats team had a great showing in the tournament as every player recorded wins in singles and doubles to kick of the fall season.
"I was very pleased with the team's performance," Arizona head coach Vicky Maes said. "This was our first event and I expected us to be a little rusty. However, everyone kept their cool and battled hard. We came away with an impressive showing and things look very good. Of course, we have areas to keep working on, but overall this was a successful weekend for the Cats."
Arizona will travel to Memphis, Tenn. for the Memphis Invitational beginning Friday, Nov. 4 and continuing through Sunday, Nov. 6.
